$300,000 prize "Red Hot"

LANSING, November 15, 2007 – A lucky anonymous woman scratched her way to the top $300,000 prize on the Lottery’s Super Red Hot Cashword instant ticket. This was the first $5 ticket the semi-regular Lottery player has ever purchased!

Eastpointe man wins $10,000

LANSING, November 15, 2007 – A longtime Lottery player is now $10,000 richer after matching four white balls and the gold ball in the Nov. 9 Mega Millions game.

Timothy Lauretti didn’t believe his luck when he first discovered his win. The 45-year-old man enjoys camping in his free time and has no immediate plans for the prize money.

Lauretti purchased the winning easy pick ticket at A & B Market, 18405 E. 9 Mile Rd., in Eastpointe.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at nearly 11,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

LANSING, November 15, 2007 – A self declared longtime Lottery player was very happy with his $500,000 prize in the $10,000,000 Game Book instant game.

Lottery celebrates 35th anniversary with record profits

LANSING, November 13, 2007 – The Michigan Lottery celebrated the 35th anniversary of its first ticket sales today with a record $748.9 million contribution to the School Aid Fund.

With the first 50-cent green ticket sold on Nov. 13, 1972, the Lottery’s mandate of funding public education was under way.  The fiscal 2007 profits of $748.9 million bring the Lottery’s total to schools to over $14.3 billion in 35 years.

In addition to contributing billions of dollars to education, the Lottery has made 775 millionaires, with prize payments totaling $4 billion!  Overall, in 35 years, the Lottery has paid $20.5 billion in prizes and $2.6 billion in retailer commissions!

In addition to the amount to schools in 2007, the Lottery paid $1.32 billion in prizes and $172.7 in retailer commissions, more than any other year in its history.  The 2007 figures represent the fourth consecutive year the Lottery has broken its own financial records.

One hundred percent of the Lottery’s profits, by law, go to the School Aid Fund.
