A Macomb County man felt his heart race after winning a $50,000 prize playing Powerball online.

Jason Viviano, 34, matched four of the white balls drawn on June 3 – 03-09-21-41-54 – to win the big prize. Viviano bought his winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.

“A friend of mine told me about playing the Lottery online, so whenever a jackpot gets up there I buy a few tickets,” said Viviano. “I bought my tickets for the June 3 drawing and didn’t think much about them until I was checking my email the next day.

“I’ve gotten emails before that tell me I’ve won a small prize and that it’s been added to my account, but this email was different because it had instructions about how to claim my prize. When I read that, my heart started racing.

“I told my wife that I had won and I think we were both still just stunned,” said Viviano. “I had to check my account on my phone and our computer before I started to believe everything.”

Viviano and his wife, Jacqueline, visited Lottery headquarters Friday to claim the big prize. With his winnings, Viviano plans to take his family to Disney World and then save the remainder.

“It’s pretty awesome to win. It certainly takes some stress away and will make our family vacation so much more enjoyable,” Viviano said.

Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each online at MichiganLottery.com and at Lottery retailers across the state. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times may be added to any Powerball play for only $1.

The Powerball drawing takes place every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. and may be watched live online at: http://www.powerballlive.com/powerball. Powerball tickets are sold in 44 states, Washington D.C., U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

In 2016, Michigan Lottery players won nearly $100 million playing Powerball.
