The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, received his winning ticket as a gift from his children. They bought the winning ticket at the Vandercook Shell gas station, located at 1302 East McDevitt Avenue in Jackson.
The lucky winner was still in disbelief when he visited Lottery headquarters Monday to claim his prize.
With his winnings, the player plans to help his family and thank his children by sending them somewhere nice for spring break.
Players have won nearly $8.7 million playing Holiday Ice, which launched in October. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $5.5 million in prizes remain, including one $300,000 top prize, and five $1,000 prizes.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.
