A lucky Michigan Lottery player could have an extra merry Christmas if they win the $227 million Powerball jackpot on Wednesday.

The $227 million jackpot is the third-largest Powerball jackpot in 2015. In September, Julie Leach, of Three Rivers, won the game’s $310.5 million jackpot. In February, three tickets purchased in North Carolina, Puerto Rico and Texas split a $564.1 million jackpot. The cash option for Wednesday’s jackpot is about $141 million.

Powerball has been a lucrative game for Michigan Lottery players in 2015. In addition to Leach’s jackpot, four players have won the game’s $1 million prize.

If a Michigan player win’s Wednesday’s $227 million jackpot, it would be the third-largest Powerball prize won in the state. On Aug. 15, 2012, Donald Lawson, of Lapeer, won a $337 million Powerball jackpot. Lawson’s jackpot holds the record for the largest Lottery prize ever won in Michigan.

Players still have plenty of time to purchase tickets for Wednesday night’s drawing. Lottery retailers throughout the state are selling Powerball tickets for the drawing until 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to five times may be added to any Powerball play for only $1.

The Powerball drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m. and may be watched live on the Lottery’s network of stations: WBKB-TV 11 (CBS), WDIV-TV 4 (NBC), WNEM-TV 5 (CBS), WXSP-TV (MyNetwork TV), WLAJ-TV 53 (ABC), WLUC-TV 6 (NBC/FOX) and WGTU-TV 29/WGTQ-TV 8 (ABC).
