With $337 million you could buy…

Michigan Lottery PowerballWhat would you do if you just won $337 million?

The lucky player holding the multi-million dollar winning ticket that was sold in Lapeer on Wednesday is probably thinking that same thing.

But just how much money is $337 million?

Well, if the winner wants a share a snack with friends, the money can buy 93,093,922 bags of Better Made Potato Chips. Or maybe the winner has a sweet tooth: the prize money will buy 78,554,778 jars of Sanders Dessert Topping.

Need some new wheels? How about 8,704 Lansing-made 2012 Cadillac CTS Coupes?

The excitement of the win could make the winner want to take a vacation. The prize will buy 603,045 nights including full American plan (meals and art museum admission) at Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel. Or, the winner can visit all of Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsula sights, tastes and sounds because he or she will be able to cross the Mackinac Bridge 84,250,000 times!

A sports fan can buy 1,094,155 season tickets for Michigan State Spartan football for 2013. Maybe the winner would like to further their knowledge base: he or she and 26,034 college bound contemporaries can enroll at the University of Michigan.

With millions of choices ahead, a shopping spree could very well be on the agenda for this lucky Lottery player. The winner, who purchased the ticket at the Sunoco Station at 1489 N. Main St. in Lapeer, must contact the Lottery’s Public Relations Division at (517)373-1237 to set up an appointment to claim the prize.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2011, the contribution to schools was over $727.3 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed over $16 billion to education in Michigan.
