Alpena player wins Fantasy 5 for his kids!

Fantasy 5The retired man from Alpena has been playing the Lottery since it began in 1972. His biggest win during that time was $2,700, he wished it could be more.

Well, on July 21 he got his wish! The lucky player, who wants to remain anonymous, won the Fantasy 5 drawing for $105,000!

The player plans to share some of his windfall with his two grown children. As for the rest of it, he plans on saving it…unless his kids need a little more help in the future.

The winning ticket was sold at Alpena E-Z Mart located at 1035 W. Chisholm St. in Alpena.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2011, the contribution to schools was over $727.3 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed over $16 billion to education in Michigan.
