A Lottery player from Laingsburg who wishes to remain anonymous claims his half of the $110,000 Fantasy 5 jackpot from the drawing on February 27.
Upon returning from a relaxing two-week vacation south of the border, this player sat down at his computer to check his tickets. That was when he realized he matched all 5 numbers on one of the 20 draws he purchased. There was however, another winner for that same drawing, so half of the jackpot yielded this winner $55,000. All this excitement took place just days after this player celebrated a milestone birthday. What a belated birthday gift!
The winning ticket was sold at Lucky Star Food Market located at 3917 W. Court St. in Flint.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2011, the contribution to schools was over $727.3 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed over $16 billion to education in Michigan.
