LANSING, September 22, 2008 – The second half of the August 23 Fantasy 5 jackpot has been claimed. A Kalamazoo man claimed $264,103 after he, along with another person, matched all five numbers.
The university professor and Civil War historian was excited with his win – especially when he told his wife. He plans to use the easy pick winnings to form a trust, buy stock, and save.
The anonymous man purchased the lucky winning easy pick ticket at West Main Shell, 5171 W. Main St., in Kalamazoo.
Fantasy 5 drawings are conducted seven days a week. Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
