Niles man claims $100,001 prize

LANSING, September 22, 2008 – Michael Furner matched all five Fantasy 5 numbers plus two of the five numbers on August 27 and won a $100,001 prize!

The regular Lottery player from Niles has played the same numbers for the last 20 years. He learned of his good fortune by reading the morning paper before work. He plans to pay bills and save for retirement with his prize money.

Furner purchased the lucky own-pick ticket at The Pit Stop, 207 S. Oak St., in Buchanan.

Fantasy 5 drawings are conducted seven days a week. Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
