LOTTERY OPERATIONS ADVISORY

LANSING, Sept. 28, 2008 – In the event of a government shutdown, the Michigan Lottery will suspend operations at the close of business on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007.  Lottery offices and claim centers will be closed until further notice.

All Lottery ticket sales, validations and prize payments will be suspended.  Drawings will be conducted for advance tickets sold prior to the shutdown.  Players with advanced wagers will also be able to check their numbers in their local newspapers and on the Lottery’s Web site at https://www.michiganlottery.com/.

Players who hold winning tickets should sign them immediately and place them in a safe location.  Once Lottery operations resume, players will be able to have their tickets validated by Lottery retailers or at Lottery regional offices.  Retailers will also be able to begin selling tickets at that time.

In addition, there will be no licenses issued or charity game tickets shipped from the Lottery warehouse.  Charitable Gaming events already licensed may be conducted at the time and location stated on the license.  If you have problems with your gaming event, please contact your local law enforcement agency.
