$250,000 prize claimed by Richmond man

LANSING, August 4, 2006 – A lucky 32-year-old teacher claimed a $250,000 prize today.  Jonathon Lowrie matched all five white balls to win the Mega Millions prize.

The “somewhat” regular Lottery player was breathless when he discovered his ticket was a big winner.  He plans to use the easy pick prize money to pay bills.

Lowrie purchased the winning ticket at Deluxe Party Store, 69209 N. Main St., in Richmond.

Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery game in Michigan, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.  Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 10,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
