LANSING, May 10, 2006 – Karen Achenza of Macomb hit it big when all eight of her numbers in an 8-Spot Club Keno game came up on April 24 to win $10,000!
Achenza, who has only been playing the Lottery for about one year, said she hid the winning ticket in an envelope before claiming her prize at the regional office in Sterling Heights. She has no immediate plans for the money.
The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Thee Horseshoe Lodge, 50980 North Ave., in Macomb Township.
Club Keno offers 37 different ways to play and win. Players can wager $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10 or $20 per drawing and tickets can be purchased for up to 20 drawings at a time. Players win Club Keno by matching some or all of the numbers they have selected to the numbers drawn. The more numbers matched, the more the player wins.
All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan. In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.
