LANSING, October 21, 2002 – – Angela Barker of Detroit recently turned loose change into big bucks with the Michigan Lottery’s new Change Play game. The 25-cent Change Play wager she purchased for the October 14 drawing brought her a $3,125 prize.
"I was so excited to win," said Barker. "I picked up a winning number report from a local Lottery retailer and was thrilled to learn I had won!"
The 37-year-old winner purchased the winning ticket at Three Star Party Store, 19650 Schoenherr Street, in Detroit.
Barker, who works at DaimlerChrysler, said she kept the winning ticket in her wallet at all times prior to turning it in at the Lottery’s regional office in Sterling Heights. She added that she plans to share her winnings with her children.
The first Change Play drawing took place on Monday, October 14, 2002 and drawings are held every night just after 9:00 p.m. Change Play allows players to use loose change from any purchase to buy a chance to win thousands of dollars with six guaranteed winners each day. The six winning tickets are randomly selected in a computerized drawing that picks from all of the unique wagers placed that day. The six winners share all of the prize money from that day’s drawing, and their individual winnings are proportional to the amount they wagered on the winning ticket.
