Two Lucky Winners Split Michigan Rolldown Jackpot — Winning Tickets Sold at Same Retailer!

LANSING, September 20, 2002 – David Frawley and Maxine Larson, both of Gladwin, are each a little richer after matching all five numbers on two different tickets in the September 10 Michigan Rolldown drawing. Each winner took home a $7,597 prize, before taxes. The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 10, 14, 23, 27 and 31.

The total pool for the September 10 Michigan Rolldown drawing was $15,194, so each jackpot winner received $7,597, before taxes. In total for the September 10 drawing, 15,447 winners shared $51,563 in prizes. In addition to the jackpot winners, 64 winners matched four numbers to win a $97 prize; 1,478 winners matched three numbers to win an $11 prize; and 13,903 winners matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.

Both jackpot-winning tickets were purchased at Secord Party Store, 2628 Lakeshore Drive, in Gladwin.

Frawley, a 41-year-old self-employed handyman, learned he had a jackpot-winning ticket after looking up the winning numbers on the Lottery’s Web site (www.michigan.gov/lottery).

The lucky man, who enjoys fishing and golfing in his free time, said he does not yet have any special plans for his winnings.

Like Frawley, Larson, 52, was excited to win a share of the jackpot.

"I went to the party store where I purchased the ticket to have it validated," said Larson. "The clerk told me that she couldn’t pay my prize and that I had to go to a Lottery office to collect my winnings! It still hasn’t sunk in yet that I won half of the jackpot!"

Larson, who enjoys riding motorcycles in her free time, told Lottery officials that she kept the winning ticket in her back pocket at all times to ensure its safety prior to turning it in at the Lottery’s regional office in Bridgeport. The lucky lady said she plans to save her winning for the future.

The first Michigan Rolldown drawing was held on February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week – – Monday through Saturday – – at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
