LANSING, September 20, 2002 – Karen Johnson of Clio matched all five numbers in the August 27 Michigan Rolldown drawing to win a $14,980 jackpot prize! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 2, 8, 16, 22 and 26.
In total for the August 27 drawing, 15,926 winners shared $50,327 in prizes. In addition to the jackpot winner, 77 winners matched four numbers to win a $79 prize; 1,677 winners matched three numbers to win a $9 prize; and 14,171 winners matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.
The winning ticket was purchased at Hoagie’s Party Store, 7010 Frances Road, in Flushing. Johnson said she chose her winning number combination based upon the birthdates of family members.
“I discovered that I had won the jackpot prize after looking up the winning numbers on the Lottery’s Web site (www.michigan.gov/lottery),” Johnson said
The lucky 42-year-old winner, who is self-employed, said she enjoys playing the Michigan Rolldown game in her free time. Johnson said she kept the winning ticket in her purse at all times to ensure its safety before turning it in at the Lottery’s regional office in Bridgeport.
The lucky lady told lottery officials that she plans to use her winnings to pay bills.
The first Michigan Rolldown drawing was held on February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week – – Monday through Saturday – – at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
