LANSING, July 1, 2002 – Retirement just got a little sweeter for a lucky Grandville man who won a $15,151 jackpot upon matching all five numbers in the June 25 Michigan Rolldown drawing! The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 6, 7, 14, 24 and 30.
In total for the June 25 Michigan Rolldown drawing, 15,882 winners shared $51,487 in prizes. In addition to the sole jackpot winner, 59 winners matched four numbers to win a $105 prize; 1,591 winners matched three numbers to win a $10 prize; and 14,231 winners matched two numbers to win the $1 prize.
The lucky ticket was purchased at Mels Food & Beverage, 3640 Chicago Dr. SW, in Grandville.
"I was very excited when I learned I had won the jackpot!" the winner said.
The 78-year-old retiree, who requested anonymity, said he enjoys gardening in his free time. He told Lottery officials that he kept the winning ticket in his pocket at all times before turning it in at the Lottery’s regional office in Wyoming, and that he plans to use his winnings to pay bills.
Michigan Rolldown’s first drawing was held on February 28, 2000. Drawings are held six days a week—Monday through Saturday—at 7:28 p.m., and the cost to play is $1 per wager. Tickets are available at more than 7,000 Lottery retailers statewide.
