LANSING, April 23, 2002 – The recent Big Game jackpot fever that swept the nation resulted in a flood of second-tier $150,000 winners, including Jason Brindley of LaSalle, Ontario, Canada! Brindley matched the first five numbers in the April 16 drawing to win a $150,000 prize. The winning numbers for that day’s drawing were: 7, 10, 25, 26, 27 and the Big Money Ball number was 23.
The winning "easy pick" ticket was purchased at Jim’s Mart, 747 Clark St., in Detroit.
"I heard the winning numbers announced on the radio at work," Brindley said. "I still wasn’t sure if I had won, or how much I had won, so I checked the Michigan Lottery’s Web site (www.michigan.gov/lottery). When I realized I had definitely won a $150,000 prize, I called my wife right away to share the good news!"
The lucky winner kept the ticket in his wallet at all times before turning it in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing. He added that he and his wife, Tracy, plan to use their winnings to make home improvements.
The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 7,000 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The next Big Game drawing is Friday, April 26, with an expected jackpot of $12 million.
