LANSING, May 16, 2000 — William Lipkovich of Riverview will soon be traveling to Florida to search for a "winter retirement home" with his $150,000 Big Game windfall from the Michigan Lottery! The winner could hardly believe his eyes when he saw he had matched the first five numbers in the May 9 Big Game drawing to win the $150,000 prize. That day’s winning numbers were: 1, 2, 12, 33, 37 and the Big Money Ball number was 4.

"I checked my ticket against the winning numbers in the Detroit News," the winner said. "I was surprised and very excited to find out I had won!"

The Ford Motor Company retiree said he has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 27 years and his favorites are Michigan Lotto and The Big Game. Lipkovich purchased the winning Big Game "easy pick" ticket at George’s Convenience Store, 13826 Sibley Road, in Riverview.

Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, Lipkovich said he placed it in a gun safe. The lucky man said he plans to use his winnings to purchase a winter home in Florida.

The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 6,400 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.

Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The next Big Game drawing is tonight (Tuesday), May 16 with an expected jackpot of $8 million.
