LANSING, May 16, 2000 — The six members of the "Lucky Seven" lottery club of Swartz Creek are celebrating in a big way after winning a top Michigan Lottery prize!
The "Lucky Seven" lottery club matched the first five numbers in the May 9 Big Game drawing, collecting the game’s $150,000 prize. That day’s winning numbers were: 1, 2, 12, 33, 37 and the Big Money Ball number was 4.
Club members, who are all related and range in age from 31 to 67 years old, include:
- Janet Brandt of Swartz Creek
- Nelson Brandt of Flushing
- Laurie Lee of Clio
- Lewis Lee of Clio
- Malinda Lee of Clio
- Nelsolene Mater of Mt. Morris
"I saw the winning numbers on WNEM-TV 12," Janet Brandt, the club’s representative, said. "I couldn’t believe it — I kept checking and rechecking the ticket! I called all of the club members at around 1:00 a.m. to tell them we had won."
The winning Big Game ticket was purchased at Marvin Liquor Store, 807 Chamberlain Street, in Flushing. Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, Brandt kept it in a safe.
The club members, who have been playing Michigan Lottery games together for the past five years, have a variety of plans for their winnings including paying bills and making investments.
The Big Game is a multistate lottery game in Michigan, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia. Wagers cost $1 each and tickets may be purchased at more than 6,400 Michigan Lottery retailers statewide.
Big Game drawings are conducted every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The next Big Game drawing is tonight (Tuesday), May 16 with an expected jackpot of $8 million.
