LANSING, April 7, 2000 — Michigan Lottery players from all across the state are missing out on more than $2.5 million in Michigan Lottery winnings as 24 top prizes wait to be claimed. The prizes range in value from $9,126 to $250,000 and among them are two prizes set to expire this month!

"If you think you may have purchased a Big Game ticket at one of these retailers around this time last year, I strongly urge you to look through any old Lottery tickets you have," said Michigan Lottery Commissioner Don Gilmer. "It would be a huge shame to see these prizes go unclaimed!"
Michigan Lottery players have one year from the draw date to claim an on-line prize. The one-year anniversary date of the April 16 Big Game ticket falls on a Sunday when Lottery offices are closed,
so that ticket holder will have until the close of business on Monday, April 17 to claim the prize. The same situation is true with the April 30 Big Game ticket, so that lucky ticket holder will have until the close of business on Monday, May 1 to claim his or her prize.

If Michigan Lottery prizes are not claimed within the one-year period, they revert to the state School Aid Fund. In the case of a Big Game prize, in which all Big Game states have contributed to funding the prize, Michigan’s allocated share of the prize money will be transferred to the School Aid Fund.
