LANSING, April 7, 2000 — The Michigan Lottery has completed the first drawing in its current Daily 3 & 4 second-chance sweepstakes and the winners are turning up in all parts of the state!
Top winners include:
- Carol Horst of Dewitt — $10,000
- Fred West of St. Clair Shores — $5,000
- Abraham Blessing of Westland — $5,000
Throughout the Daily 3 & 4 "booKoo Cash" promotion, the Lottery will award each week for four weeks one grand prize of $10,000; two second prizes of $5,000; 25 third prizes of $1,500; and 100 fourth prizes of a Daily 3 & 4 baseball cap. Lottery officials were able to speak to all three top-prize winners after the drawing.
"Are you kidding?" screamed Dewitt resident Carol Horst, after she learned of her $10,000 win. "I can’t believe this. I am so excited! You don’t know how much I needed this!"
Horst, 50, has been a regular Michigan Lottery player for the past 27 years. She said she will likely use her winnings to pay bills and take a vacation.
Horst’s winning entry included Daily 3 & 4 tickets purchased at Terranova’s Thriftway, 129 S. Bridge Street, in Dewitt.
Fred West of St. Clair Shores expressed similar sentiments when Lottery officials told him he was a $5,000 second-prize winner.
"Whoa!" exclaimed West. "I am very surprised that I won. This is great!"
West’s winning entry included Daily 3 & 4 tickets purchased at Chapoton Woods Market, 22524 Greater Mack Ave., in St. Clair Shores and Kroger #495, 23191 Marter Road, in St. Clair Shores.
Abraham Blessing of Westland said she was thrilled to have won a $5,000 prize.
"Thank you! Thank you!" she yelled. "I am very surprised and happy to have won!"
Blessing’s winning entry included Daily 3 & 4 tickets purchased at Hunter & Wayne Liquor, 35201 Hunter St., in Westland.
In addition to the three cash prizes mentioned above, the Lottery gave away 25 $1,500 cash prizes to these "booKoo Cash" third-place winners:

To enter the Daily 3 & 4 "booKoo Cash" second-chance sweepstakes, players send in two non-winning Daily 3 or 4 mid-day tickets and two non-winning Daily 3 or 4 evening tickets (in any combination) for any drawing between March 27, 2000 and April 22, 2000, along with their name, address and daytime telephone number on a separate sheet of paper to:

Players may enter as many times as they like, but entries must be limited to one entry per envelope. Players may also drop off entries at any of the Lottery’s regional offices, or participating newspapers and radio stations.
The remaining "booKoo Cash" drawings will be held April 12, April 19 and May 3. Grand- and second-prize winners will be announced during the broadcast of the Michigan Lottery’s "Road to Riches" weekly television game show.
