LANSING, July 6, 1999 – A Detroit man was thrilled when he realized he had won the top prize in the Michigan Lottery’s Cash 5 game!  He matched all five winning numbers in the June 28 drawing to win the game’s top $100,000 prize.

"I watch the Cash 5 drawings every night," said the winner.  "It took me a minute to realize I had matched all five winning numbers.  I was really surprised – I grabbed my wife right away and kissed her!"

The winning Cash 5 numbers that day were: 1, 13, 18, 26 and 27.  The lucky Cash 5 ticket was purchased at Primo Petro Corp., 8001 Wyoming Street, in Detroit.

Prior to turning the winning ticket in at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, the General Motors retiree kept it in a safe place in his house.

The 78-year-old winner said he has been playing Michigan Lottery games for the past 26 years, and he enjoys the wide variety of games the Lottery offers.  The Detroit man said he plans to pay bills with his winnings.

The lucky man offered the following words of wisdom to other Lottery hopefuls: "A winner never quits and a quitter never wins!"

Cash 5 drawings are conducted every Monday through Friday at 7:28 p.m.  Players can win $100,000 for matching all five numbers; $350 for matching four of five numbers drawn; or $20 for matching three of five numbers drawn.

Tickets are available for Cash 5 and other Michigan Lottery on-line games at more than 6,400 Lottery retailers throughout the state.
