“I usually play scratch off tickets, but I bought a $30 Jumbo Jackpot Slots Fast Cash ticket on a whim and ended up winning $300,” said the lucky 39-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. “When I cashed that ticket, I used $20 of my winnings to buy a Super Lucky 7s ticket.

“I scanned the ticket on the Michigan Lottery app and started shaking when I saw I’d won $714,891. The first thing I did was walk over and give the cashier a hug!”

The player bought his winning ticket at Exit 76 – Meadowbrooke, located at 4919 Town Center Court Southeast in Grand Rapids. He recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. With his winnings, he plans to pay bills, put some into his children’s college funds, and then save the remainder.

Michigan Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli Named to Michigan Lawyers Weekly 2025 Influential Women of Law Class

Michigan Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli has been selected as a member of the 2025 Influential Women of Law class by Michigan Lawyers Weekly.

“Throughout her career, Suzanna has been a dedicated advocate for kids in Michigan,” said Governor Whitmer. “From serving as an advocate for children within state government to the lottery commissioner, where she oversees an annual contribution of $1 billion to the School Aid Fund, her positive impact on the lives of children in Michigan is truly inspiring. Congratulations to Suzanna on receiving this honor!”

The Influential Women of Law awards program, presented by Michigan Lawyers Weekly, celebrates female attorneys and judges who have excelled in their legal careers. The awards highlight individuals who are inspiring leaders, mentors to others, and who have made a lasting impact through their professional achievements and community involvement.

Shkreli’s career is marked by a deep commitment to public service and the justice system. Prior to her March 2024 appointment as Lottery Commissioner, she served as the Director of Juvenile Justice Reform at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), where she was instrumental in implementing system-wide improvements. Her past roles in state government include serving as Michigan’s Children’s Ombudsman and deputy legal counsel in the Executive Office of the Governor.

Before joining state government, Shkreli served as an assistant prosecuting attorney with the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. She has conducted training for law enforcement officials throughout Albania on Crime Victims’ Rights on behalf of the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Prosecutorial Development and Training. Additionally, Shkreli serves as a member of the Governor’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect where she chairs the training subcommittee on child death protocol development.

Shkreli is a lifelong Michigander, and graduate of Oakland University and Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Ohio Man Wins Powerball Fore-tune from the Michigan Lottery

Winning TicketAn Ohio man turned a golf day into a payday when he won a $150,000 Powerball fore-tune from the Michigan Lottery!

Donovan Reynolds, 68, matched four white balls and the Powerball – 02-18-19-25-35 PB: 25 – in the July 23 drawing to win a $50,000 prize. Thanks to the Power Play, the prize was multiplied to $150,000. He bought his winning ticket at Big Daddy’s Truck Stop, located at 6055 Saint Anthony Road in Ottawa Lake. Ottawa Lake is about 40 miles south of Ann Arbor.

“I typically play Powerball in Ohio, but I was in Michigan for the day golfing, so I bought my ticket while I was here,” said Reynolds. “I checked the winning numbers the next day and froze when I saw I matched four white balls and the Powerball. I was stunned! I have been playing these numbers for awhile and they finally paid off.”

Reynolds visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim his prize. He plans to put his winnings in his daughter’s college fund.

There is a huge pile of cash up for grabs in Saturday’s Powerball jackpot which stands at $482 million. The cash option for the jackpot is $218.9 million. If a player wins Saturday’s jackpot it would be the fifth Powerball jackpot won this year.

Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at MichiganLottery.com. A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball play for only $1.
