Lottery events season continues this weekend

LANSING, June 12, 2006 – The Michigan Lottery’s 2006 events season continues this weekend at the Arab International Festival in Dearborn.

The Lottery’s booth, sponsored by Happy Three Party Store, will feature the Michigan Lottery’s prize wheel where players will have an opportunity to spin and win exciting Lottery prizes!  To earn a spin on the wheel, just purchase $10 in tickets sold at any one of the festivals the Lottery is participating in.  Players can purchase both Instant and online tickets at the booth.

Hours for the Lottery booth are 5 – 9 p.m. Friday, June 16; 12 – 2 p.m. and 5 – 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 17; and 12 – 2 p.m. and 5 – 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 18.

The American Arab Chamber of Commerce will transform 12 city blocks to create the largest Arab International Festival in the nation.  Last year, the festival in Dearborn attracted over 250,000 people during the three day event.

The Lottery will also be at various other events during the 2006 season:

  • The Bay City Pig Gig (August 3 – 6, Bay City)
  • Upper Peninsula State Fair (August 15 – 20, Escanaba)
  • Michigan State Fair (August 23 – September 4, Detroit)
  • Arts, Beats & Eats (September 1 – 4, Pontiac)

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.

Lottery to select finalists for $2 million drawing

LANSING, June 9, 2006 – Five lucky finalists who will participate in a drawing for $2 million will be selected by the Michigan Lottery on Friday, June 16.

The finalists will be chosen from those players who win $1,000 on one of the Lottery’s $20 Instant tickets: “Millions & Millions”, “$2,000,000 Mega Play”, “$2,000,000 Cash Casino”, “Wild Millions”, and “Mega Bucks Jackpot”.  Claims of $1,000 prizes made before the close of business on Wednesday, June 14 will qualify for the drawing.  In order to claim a $1,000 prize, winners must redeem their ticket at a Lottery regional office or licensed bank claim center.

Finalists will be notified by phone that day and also by US mail.

Players who redeem $1,000 prizes after that date will be eligible for the next $2 million drawing, which will be conducted this fall.

The grand prize drawing will be conducted at Rhythm & Rhymes from the Hart at the International Freedom Festival in downtown Detroit on Wednesday, June 28.   The drawing will be televised live on WDIV Detroit Local 4 immediately following the fireworks display.

$100,000 prize claimed

LANSING, June 6, 2006 – A lucky winner claimed a $100,000 Fantasy 5 prize today.  He matched all five numbers in the April 21 drawing.

The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Meijer #11, 1540 28th St., SE, in Grand Rapids.

Fantasy 5 is the Michigan Lottery’s game which replaced Michigan Roll Down.  Drawings for the game are held seven days a week.  Jackpots start at $100,000 and grow by approximately $5,000 daily.

All proceeds from the Lottery are contributed to the state School Aid Fund which supports kindergarten through 12th grade public education in Michigan.  In fiscal year 2005, the contribution was $667.6 million.

Triple Double Cash 2 pays off

LANSING, June 6, 2006 – A very lucky man from Lansing is $25,000 richer, thanks to the Lottery’s Triple Double Cash 2 Instant game!

The lucky retiree, who is not a regular Lottery player, was in shock after scratching the winning ticket.  He hid it in his lucky ticket in his wallet before cashing it in at Lottery Central in Lansing.  The winner plans to put his prize money in his savings account.

The lucky ticket was purchased at Sunset Food Market, 618 E. Kalamazoo St., in Lansing.

Grand Rapids winner cashes in

LANSING, June 6, 2006 – A lucky winner from Grand Rapids won a $30,000 top prize in the Lottery’s U Win Bingo Instant game.

The long time Lottery player was surprised by her win.  She enjoys reading and decorating her home in her free time.
