What an Oakland County woman thought was a scam email, ended up being an email from the Michigan Lottery informing her she’d won a big Monthly Jackpot progressive prize.
The lucky 47-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, won $110,689 after she was selected in a random drawing that took place Dec. 14. She earned entries into the giveaway by playing the Monthly Jackpot game online at MichiganLottery.com.
“I knew that by playing the Monthly Jackpot game online, I was earning entries into a second chance giveaway,” said the player. “I never thought I would win the second chance drawing, so I was just hoping for an instant win while playing the games.
“I was checking my email one day and saw an email from the Lottery informing me that I’d won a $110,689 Monthly Jackpot prize and I thought it was a scam. I decided to wait until the next day to do anything about the email because I was certain that I hadn’t actually won. When I got a call from the Lottery a few hours later confirming my prize, I was so excited! Winning is such an unbelievable feeling.”
The player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. With her winnings, she plans to complete home improvements.
The Monthly Jackpot and Mystery Vault online instant games include a second chance progressive jackpot drawing. Part of every purchase of the Monthly Jackpot and Mystery Vault games funds one progressive jackpot prize which is awarded in a second chance drawing each month. Players earn one entry for every $0.50 wagered playing the Monthly Jackpot or Mystery Vault games. After the entry period has closed, a random drawing takes place with one jackpot winner being selected from all entries for that month.
Eight Monthly Jackpot Progressive prizes have been awarded since the game began in April:

Entries are only valid for the entry period in which they were earned. Each month, a new drawing period begins, and the progressive jackpot is reset to $5,000. The next drawing will take place today.
