Scary Rich: Powerball Jackpot Hits $1 Billion for Tonight’s Drawing

Powerball jackpot winner costume graphicA Michigan Lottery player could be in for a huge treat with tonight’s Powerball jackpot at $1 billion! The cash option for the jackpot is $497 million.

If a lucky player wins the $1 billion jackpot, it will be the second-largest Powerball jackpot ever won, and fifth-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. Tonight’s drawing will be the 38th Powerball drawing since the jackpot was last won Aug. 3.

The last Michigan player to win a Powerball jackpot was Cristy Davis, of Waterford. Davis won the game’s $70 million jackpot on Feb. 12, 2020.

If a Michigan player wins the jackpot, it would be the second largest jackpot ever won in the state. In January 2021, an Oakland County lottery club won a $1.05 billion Mega Millions jackpot. That jackpot was the largest ever won in Michigan and the fourth largest in U.S. lottery history.

Powerball plays may be purchased for $2 each at Lottery retailers across the state and online at A “Power Play” option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of $2 million may be added to any Powerball play for only $1. For an additional $1 per play, Double Play may be added to a Powerball ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to $10 million in the nightly Double Play drawing.
