Wayne County Man Wins $300,000 Playing the Michigan Lottery’s 25th Anniversary Wild Time Instant Game

A Wayne County man couldn’t remember his name after learning he’d won $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s 25th Anniversary Wild Time instant game.

The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at the Meijer store, located at 26100 Vreeland Drive in Flat Rock.

“I cashed in some tickets at the service counter and didn’t want to hold up the line behind me, so I went to the self-service machine to buy some tickets with my winnings,” said the player. “I bought several different games and headed home.

“When I scratched the 25th Anniversary Wild Time ticket off, I didn’t believe what I was seeing. I kept thinking: ‘I’ve had this dream before!’”

After taking about 10 minutes to calm down, the player called the Lottery to get confirmation of the big win.

“When I called I was expecting the person on the phone to tell me I’d read the ticket wrong,” said the player. “When they came back on the line and told me I had really won $300,000, I was so disoriented I couldn’t even remember my own name!”

The 31-year-old player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize. He plans to save his winnings while he considers how to spend the windfall.

Players have won more than $19 million playing 25th Anniversary Wild Time, which launched in December 2017. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $10 million in prizes remain, including one $300,000 top prize, five $25,000 prizes, and 12 $2,500 prizes.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.

In 2017, Lottery players won more than $960 million playing instant games.
