A Wayne County man plans to help his grandchildren with their college tuition after winning $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Multi-Prize Bingo instant game.
The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought the winning ticket at the Livonia Liquor Shop, located at 28225 5 Mile Road in Livonia.
“When I first scratched the ticket, I wasn’t sure how much I’d won,” said the 80-year-old player. “I took the ticket back up to the store and they told me they couldn’t cash it, so I went to the Lottery’s Livonia office. It wasn’t until I got there that I learned I won $300,000!”
The player visited Lottery headquarters on Monday to claim his big prize. With his winnings, he plans to help send his grandchildren to college and may buy a new vehicle for himself.
Players have won more than $10 million playing Multi-Prize Bingo, which launched in October 2017. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000.
