An Oakland County woman couldn’t contain her excitement after winning $250,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s KENO! game.
“I get excited when I get my check from work, so this is over the top,” said the player who matched 10 of the 22 numbers drawn Oct. 24.
Her winning numbers were: 10-13-16-19-23-25-28-37-42-46. She bought her winning ticket at the Marathon gas station, located at 110 South Newburgh Road in Westland.
“I play KENO! every day and the most I’ve ever matched is seven numbers,” said the player, who chose to remain anonymous. “I was on the phone when I filled out my play slip and just picked numbers that felt lucky to me in the moment.
“Tuesday night I was lying in bed and I picked up my phone to check the numbers, but I was tired so I decided to wait until the next morning. When I woke up, the first thing I did was grab my phone to check my ticket. I must have counted to 10 five times before I went running to the other room to have someone else check my ticket. I couldn’t believe I matched 10 numbers to win $250,000!”
The excited player visited Lottery headquarters Monday to claim her big prize. With her winnings she plans to give $500 to each of her 11 brothers and sisters, buy a new vehicle, and then invest the remainder.
KENO! tickets may be purchased for $1. Players select 10 numbers from one to 80 for a chance to win prizes ranging from a free instant ticket up to $250,000. Drawings for the game take place at 7:30 p.m. seven days a week.
