A Roseville woman won a lifetime of cash playing the Michigan Lottery’s Lucky For Life game.
Deborah Oliszewski, 58, matched the five white balls drawn July 13 – 06-15-18-36-47 – to win the big prize. She bought her winning ticket at Van’s Party Store, located at 15153 East 10 Mile Road in Eastpointe. Oliszewski is the 11th Michigan Lottery player to win a lifetime prize in the Lucky For Life game.
“I stopped at Van’s and asked the clerk to give me a few Easy Picks for whatever the big Lottery game was that night,” said Oliszewski. “I had never played Lucky For Life before.”
The next morning, Oliszewski heard on the morning news that someone had won a $25,000 a year for life prize playing Lucky For Life.
“As I was standing in the living room checking my ticket on my phone, I heard the news anchor reporting someone had won the $25,000 a year for life prize,” said Oliszewski. “I shouted: ‘It was me!’”
Oliszewski visited Lottery headquarters Monday to claim her big prize. She chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum of $390,000 rather than an annuity. With her winnings, she plans to buy a Harley Davidson motorcycle and then invest the remainder.
“Winning means financial security for me. I’ll actually be able to move up north like I’ve always dreamed of,” Oliszewski said.
For just $2 per play, Lucky For Life gives Lottery players a chance to win prizes ranging from $3 to a lifetime of cash. To win the game’s top prize of $1,000 a day for life, players must match all five winning numbers ranging from 1 to 48, plus one Lucky Ball ranging from 1 to 18. Players who match all five winning numbers, but not the Lucky Ball, will win $25,000 a year for life. Lucky For Life drawings take place every Monday and Thursday at 10:35 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at Lottery retailers across the state.
