A Bay County woman played Michigan Lottery games online for weeks before realizing she’d won a $169,144 Fantasy 5 jackpot.
The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched the Fantasy 5 numbers drawn on July 12 – 08-19-22-28-30 – to win the jackpot. She bought her winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.
“I log in to my online Lottery account almost every day” said the player. “One day when I logged in, I saw a box that said: ‘Taxable Winnings.’ I thought to myself: ‘I’ve never had any taxable winnings,’ and boy, was I surprised when I clicked on the box.”
That’s when the lucky player learned she was the winner of a $169,144 Fantasy 5 jackpot.
“I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” said the player. “I called the Lottery and they confirmed that I was the jackpot winner and that’s when it started to sink in.
“When my husband and I play, we dream about how we’d spend the jackpot. It’ll be nice to actually spend a jackpot this time.”
The lucky player recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim her big prize. With her winnings, she plans to pay some bills, complete some home improvements, and buy some hunting property.
“It’s wonderful to have a little money to feather your nest with,” said the player.
Each Fantasy 5 play is only $1. For an additional $1 per play, EZmatch may be added to a Fantasy 5 ticket, giving players a chance to win up to $500 instantly. Fantasy 5 players select five numbers from one to 39. Players who match all five Fantasy 5 numbers drawn win a jackpot that starts at $100,000. Fantasy 5 drawings are held seven days a week at 7:29 p.m. Tonight’s Fantasy 5 jackpot is $110,000.
