The cash continues to pile up in the Michigan Lottery’s Lotto 47 jackpot, which now stands at $18 million for Saturday’s drawing.

If a player wins Saturday’s $18 million Lotto 47 jackpot, it would be the third-largest Lotto 47 jackpot ever won. The second-largest Lotto 47 jackpot – $18.4 million – was won by an Oakland County player on Jan. 9, 2007. The largest Lotto 47 jackpot won was a $23.6 million jackpot, that prize was won by a Macomb County player on March 1, 2008.

Players won the Lotto 47 jackpot eight times in 2016, with the jackpots totaling more than $14.1 million. In January 2016, a Mason County couple won a $4.2 million Lotto 47 jackpot, which was the largest prize for that game in 2016. The Lotto 47 jackpot was last won on June 22, 2016 by a Wayne County man, who won $2 million.

To win the jackpot, players must match all six of the numbers drawn. Jackpot winners may choose to receive their prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $11.4 million, or to receive annuity payments of $600,000 annually for 30 years.

Each Lotto 47 play is only $1. Players select six numbers from one to 47 for a chance to win a jackpot starting at $1 million and that grows until someone wins it. Lotto 47 drawings take place on Wednesday and Saturday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets may be purchased until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
