Alpena County Man Wins $500,000 Playing Michigan Lottery’s Hit $250 Instant Game

The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought the winning ticket at the Alpena West EZ Mart, located at 1000 M-32 West in Alpena.

The player visited Lottery headquarters this week to claim the big prize. With his winnings the 49-year-old plans to pay some bills, take a trip to Walt Disney World, and retire earlier than he had planned.

Players have won more than $16 million playing Hit $250, which launched in April 2016. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $500,000. More than $27 million in prizes remain, including two $500,000 top prizes, and 68 $1,000 prizes.

Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.

In 2015, Lottery players won more than $722.1 million playing instant games.
