The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought the winning ticket at the Marathon gas station, located at 8037 Spring Arbor Road in Spring Arbor.
“I scratched the ticket off as soon as I got into my car and saw I matched the number ‘02’ and couldn’t believe the prize was $2 million,” said the winner. “I took the ticket back into the gas station and told the clerk to read it and tell me what he saw.
“When he told me I was right and it was a $2 million winner, I ran to my car to call my mom and tell her the good news.”
After getting home, the player shared the good news with her husband.
“I pulled my husband into the bathroom as soon as I got home so I could tell him I had won big,” said the winner. “I want to keep my winnings a secret for a while, so I figured the bathroom was the safest place to tell him.”
The player visited Lottery headquarters today claim the big prize. She chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum cash payment of about $1.3 million rather than an annuity.
With her winnings, the 54-year-old player plans to pay off her debt, buy a new vehicle, and take a leave of absence from her job to spend time with her family.
Players have won more than $46.1 million playing $2,000,000 Bonus, which launched in May 2016. Each $20 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $20 up to $2,000,000. More than $22.6 million in prizes remain, including two $2 million top prizes, 22 $5,000 prizes, and 122 $1,000 prizes.
