It took a lot of talking for an Eaton County man to convince his family that he had won $300,000 playing the Michigan Lottery’s Hold ‘Em Poker instant game.
The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at the M-50 Party Store, located at 4050 East Clinton Trail in Charlotte.
“Last week I thought I’d won $100 on an instant ticket, but it turned out I was reading it wrong,” said the player. “When I told people I won $300,000 they were pretty skeptical, but after showing them the ticket they couldn’t believe it.”
The lucky player visited Lottery headquarters Wednesday to claim the big prize. With his winnings, he plans to pay for his upcoming wedding, and make a big down payment on a house.
Players have won more than $8.4 million playing Hold ‘Em Poker, which launched in September. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $300,000. More than $13 million in prizes remain, including two $300,000 prizes, and 67 $1,000 prizes.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.
In 2015, Lottery players won more than $722.1 million playing instant games.
