A Genesee County woman is planning to “make Christmas better” for her family after winning $1 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s $1,000,000 Jackpot instant game.
The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought her winning ticket at Bears Corner Party Shop, located at 5519 North Elms Road in Flushing.
The player visited Lottery headquarters Monday to claim the big prize. She chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $634,000, rather than an annuity. In addition to making her family’s Christmas better, the player plans to pay off bills, and use some of the money for college.
Players have won more than $34.6 million playing $1,000,000 Jackpot game, which launched in August 2015. Each $10 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $1 million. More than $1 million in prizes remain, including seven $1,000 prizes.
Lottery instant games may be purchased at 11,000 retailers across the state.
In 2015, Lottery players won more than $722.1 million playing instant games.
