A Kalkaska County woman had to check her Lotto 47 ticket 10 times before believing she had won the game’s $2 million jackpot.
The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, matched all six Lotto 47 numbers drawn on Wednesday night: 03-13-29-30-34-47. She bought her winning ticket at the Lake City Shell gas station, located at 200 Main Street in Lake City.
Winning $2 million was still sinking in when the winner visited Lottery headquarters today to claim her big prize. She said that it was hard to believe she won the jackpot because “My husband and I have worked so hard for everything that we’ve ever had.”
She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.3 million rather than an annuity. With her winnings, she plans to purchase a new vehicle, travel to visit some family and friends, and complete some home improvement projects.
Lotto 47 has been one of the hottest games for players in 2016. Including Wednesday night’s jackpot winner, players have won seven jackpots amounting to more than $12.1 million this year.
Each Lotto 47 play is only $1. Players select six numbers from one to 47 for a chance to win a jackpot starting at $1 million and that grows until someone wins it. For an additional $1 per game, players may add EZMatch to their ticket for a chance to win up to $500 instantly. Lotto 47 drawings take place on Wednesday and Saturday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets may be purchased until 7:08 p.m. on the day of the drawing.
