An Ottawa County man was stunned after he won a $100,000 top prize playing the Michigan Lottery’s $100,000 Tax Free game online.
“I had to stay home from work to take care of my daughter on Monday night,” said Randy Maatman, of Holland. “I work third shift, so while she was sleeping I was wide awake so I decided to play some Lottery games online.”
Maatman had $70 in his account and was thinking about withdrawing the money, but instead decided to play the $100,000 Tax Free game.
“I like playing draw games online, but I also play instants from time to time,” said Maatman. “I’m glad I decided to play the $100,000 Tax Free game because it really paid off!
“It’s still hard to believe I won. It won’t seem real until I have the money in my bank account.”
Maatman visited Lottery headquarters in Lansing today to claim his big prize. With his winnings, Maatman plans to pay some bills, set up a college fund for his daughter, and save the remainder.
Michigan Lottery players have a chance to win up to $500,000 instantly playing online. Through its online platform, the Lottery offers players more than 30 different games with plays ranging in price from 5 cents to $20. The Lottery added four draw games – Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto 47, and Fantasy 5 – to its online offerings in January.
More than 306,000 players have registered to play the Lottery’s online games, which were launched in 2014. For more information or to play online, visit http://bit.ly/MSLOnlineGames.
In 2015, Lottery players won about $127.7 million playing games online.
