A lucky late night ticket purchase led to a $207,551 Fantasy 5 jackpot for a Chesterfield man.
Doug S., who asked that his last name not be used, matched the Fantasy 5 numbers drawn on Jan. 20 – 05-10-16-19-21 – to win the $207,551 jackpot. He bought his winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com. He is the first player in Michigan Lottery history to win a draw game jackpot with a ticket purchased online.

“I remember lying in bed the night I bought the ticket and thinking I needed to check and see if anyone had won the Fantasy 5 jackpot,” said Doug. “After I saw that it hadn’t been won, I noticed a ‘Buy Now’ button so I clicked it, and bought a Fantasy 5 ticket for the Jan. 20 drawing.”
The next day, Doug checked to see if the Fantasy 5 jackpot had grown and when he saw it was back to $100,000 he logged into his Michigan Lottery account to check his ticket.
“As soon as I logged in on my phone, a screen popped up and congratulated me on winning the $207,551 Fantasy 5 jackpot,” said Doug. “I really couldn’t process what I was seeing, so I asked my roommate to take a look at the screen.
“He couldn’t believe what he was seeing and said we needed to get on a computer and log in. After we logged in on my home computer we looked in my account and saw the winning ticket, and that’s when we knew it was real.”
With his big prize, Doug plans to build a new patio for his pool, take his mom on a trip to play bingo, and help his niece pay for college.
