A Dearborn Heights woman couldn’t wait to get to Michigan Lottery headquarters today after winning a 2014 Cadillac CTS, playing the Cadillac Riches game.
Kathleen McGrath is the first winner of a Cadillac CTS on the popular $5 instant game. She decided to take a cash prize of $54,764 instead of the car. McGrath bought her winning ticket at the Sunnyside Market, located at 21534 Van Born Road in Dearborn Heights.
McGrath, a regular Lottery player, was helping an elderly neighbor on Tuesday afternoon when she learned the neighbor had just won $75 playing Cadillac Riches. That night when she visited the Sunnyside Market to make her regular Lottery purchase, she bought two Cadillac Riches tickets.
“I scratched the tickets as soon as I got home,” McGrath said. “The first ticket I scratched was a $10 winner and I thought it was a pretty good start. When I scratched the second ticket and realized what I had, I started screaming! My dogs were barking, I was jumping all over, and I couldn’t wait to call the Lottery.”
For McGrath, positive karma paid off. She is known for helping others in need and buys the clerk at the Sunnyside Market two $2 instant game tickets each time she makes a Lottery purchase.
“It’s such a good feeling to win,” McGrath said. “This money is going to help a lot of people.”
With her winnings, McGrath plans to help a few needy families in her community and save a portion for herself.
For just $5 per ticket, Cadillac Riches gives players a chance to win a 2014 Cadillac CTS as well as cash prizes ranging from $5 to $200,000. Both of the game’s $200,000 top prizes remain, along with two Cadillac CTS prizes and nine $1,000 prizes. Players also may enter non-winning tickets into a second chance drawing for a chance to win a 2014 Cadillac CTS. The Cadillac Riches game launched in August 2014.
Cadillac Riches, and other Lottery instant game tickets may be purchased at retailers across the state.
