A Monroe County woman learned the exact meaning of the poker term “rush” – winning a large amount of money in a short period of time – when she won $100,000 playing Poker Lotto.
The 43-year-old winner, who chose to remain anonymous, is a regular Michigan Lottery player and previously had won smaller prizes, but said winning a Poker Lotto top prize was an entirely different experience.
“I didn’t believe that I actually won until I was making an appointment to claim the prize,” the winner said. “I just kept telling myself: ‘This isn’t real. This isn’t real.’” She was sure there had been a mistake when the store clerk told her she had won the jackpot.
The lucky winner plans to use a portion of her big prize to enhance her family’s carefree lifestyle, starting with building a pole barn to store the family camper.
“We don’t live the high life, we just have fun,” the winner said, adding that she enjoys outdoor activities and having barbeques with her loved ones.
The winning ticket was bought at the Carleton Fuel Stop, located at 12710 Grafton Rd in Carleton.
