The Michigan Lottery has joined the National Council on Problem Gambling as part of its ongoing commitment to responsible gaming.
“Michigan Lottery games are designed to provide players with fun and entertainment. Each year, millions of people play our games and enjoy them responsibly,” said Jeff Holyfield, the Lottery’s director of public relations.
“For those individuals who show signs of problem gambling behavior, we believe it is our responsibility to offer information and assistance. As part of that effort, the Michigan Lottery provides $1 million each year to help fund statewide education and treatment programs for problem gambling.”
The assistance available to players includes a toll-free helpline: 800-270-7117.
Joining the council will allow the Michigan Lottery to increase its involvement in responsible gaming at a national level and support the council’s efforts.
The council is neutral on legalized gambling and works with all stakeholders to promote responsible gaming. It also serves as the national advocate for problem gamblers and their families.
