Lucky Winners Collect More Than $130 Million from Michigan Lottery’s Top 13 Prizes in 2013

Michigan LotteryForget about 13 being an unlucky number. As 2013 comes to a close, the winners of the Michigan Lottery’s top 13 prizes to date collected more than $130 million.

The biggest winner of the lucky 13 was Dick Zelasko, of Troy, who won $80 million in the July 5 Mega Millions drawing on a ticket purchased at John’s Market in Troy. On Feb. 5, Judy Juntunen, of Atlantic Mine in the Upper Peninsula, hit a $19 Mega Millions jackpot with a ticket purchased at Festival Foods in Houghton.

A Classic Lotto 47 ticket purchased at Bonser’s of Custer in Mason County turned out to be the winner for $13.3 million jackpot in the Aug. 14 drawing. The winner preferred to remain anonymous.

A Classic Lotto 47 jackpot of nearly $6 million — $5,962,965, to be exact – ranks No. 4 on the lucky 13 list.  That winning ticket for that Feb. 13 drawing was sold at Mack & Vernier, in Woodhaven. The winner preferred to remain anonymous.

No. 5 on the lucky 13 list is a $2.2 million prize in the $5 Cash for Life game. The winning ticket for that instant game was sold at the Meijer store in Hartland.  The winner preferred to remain anonymous.

While the $130 million total for the top 13 prizes so far in 2013 is impressive, Michigan Lottery players still have more than two weeks and plenty of opportunities to get on that list.

The biggest jackpot available is the $400 Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs in tonight’s drawing. Players must purchase their tickets by 10:45 p.m. to be entered in the 11 p.m. drawing.

The Powerball drawing for Saturday night offers a $40 million jackpot and the Classic Lotto 47 jackpot for the same night has edged past the $1 million mark, to $1,050,000.

The Michigan Lottery also is offering some instant games with top prizes of $1 million or more.  The Hot Millions game was launched earlier this month in time for the holiday gift giving season.  Giving someone one of the $20 tickets could turn in to an unforgettable $1 million holiday surprise.
