Travelers passing through Detroit Metro Airport’s McNamara and North Terminals can now play Michigan Lottery games while awaiting their flight departures or when picking up their luggage!
Lottery games, including instants, draw games like Mega Millions and Powerball, and Club Games, such as Club Keno, are available from multiple retailers.
In the McNamara Terminal, players can purchase tickets at seven automated Lottery-to-Go vending locations and seven restaurant locations, where they can also play Club Keno. In addition, winning tickets can be redeemed at six different retail locations throughout the terminal.
In the North Terminal, players can purchase tickets at six automated Lottery-to-Go vending locations and three restaurants that also offer Club Keno. Winning tickets can be redeemed at four different airport concession locations throughout the terminal.
“Our partnership with the State and our concessionaires to bring Michigan Lottery into Detroit Metro Airport is a terrific example of how, working together, we can create win-win opportunities,” said Wayne County Airport Authority Interim CEO Tom Naughton. “We are happy to support this worthwhile effort, which not only benefits education in Michigan, but which our travelers, employees and concessionaires enjoy.”
Airport retailers are also pleased with the opportunities the Michigan Lottery has afforded them.
“Having Michigan Lottery available in our restaurant provides our customers with a new, fun and unique amenity, here at the airport,” said Phil Bahri, co-owner of the locally-owned and operated Online Café in DTW’s McNamara Terminal. “Since we began offering Club Keno and the Lottery’s other draw games, we have seen a recognizable jump in our average sales transaction, and the new service seems to be a hit with travelers and employees alike.”
Lottery officials noted that a number of airports across the country sell Lottery products and are among the largest retailers in those states. They expect the partnership with Metro will be very successful.
“We are thrilled with the partnership we have forged with the Airport Authority and its concessionaire partners at Detroit Metro Airport,” said Lottery Chief Deputy Commissioner Tom Weber. “We have had countless inquiries from people who are planning a trip that takes them through Metro, asking if there is a place there to buy Lottery tickets. We are pleased to now have options available to them.”
