Michael Hollman of Kalamazoo claims $250,000 from the March 9, 2012 Mega Millions drawing

Michael Hollman of Kalamazoo was the lucky winner of $250,000 after matching five white ball numbers in the March 9 Mega Millions drawing.

The first order of business for Hollman and his wife is to start a college fund for each of their two children. Then they will invest a portion into a 401K for “retired life”.

The winning ticket was sold by 7-Eleven 108B located at 3726 Mount Olivet Rd. in Parchment.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2011, the contribution to schools was over $727.3 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed over $16 billion to education in Michigan.
