LANSING, July 22, 2009 – The last remaining Millionaire Raffle prize worth $100,000 has been claimed by a very lucky Lottery player. Since the January 5 drawing, the Michigan Lottery has paid over $5 million to winners.

The player, who wished to remain anonymous, purchased the lucky winning ticket at 7-Eleven, 7171 N. Canton Center Rd., in Canton.

Winners who claimed top prizes include Michael Batterton, who won a top $1 million on a ticket purchased at the Hickory Ridge Market in Highland and five anonymous players who claimed $1 million prizes on tickets purchased at Kim’s Tally Ho Inc. in Curtis, the Palace Liquor Wine Shop in Macomb, Meijer #44 in Flint, Wine Valley in Chesterfield and Neiman’s Family Market in Alpena.

Additionally, Ralph Saunders claimed $100,000 on a ticket purchased at 7-Eleven 32816 in Taylor; Fred Cleveland claimed $100,000 on a ticket purchased at Fat Tony’s Sports Bar in Portage; Eileen Breimayer claimed $100,000 on a ticket purchased at Admiral Disc Tobacco 114 in Newaygo; and seven anonymous winners claimed $100,000 each on tickets purchased at Meijer #56 in Jackson; Party World in Comstock Park; Bernie’s Market in Clinton Township; Glen’s Market in Clare; Speedway #2322 in Washington; Bills Market in Coldwater; and Kmart 4082 in Troy; and Kroger #681 in Hillsdale.

The Millionaire Raffle is the Michigan Lottery’s 10th Raffle to date. Featured were six prizes of $1 million each, 12 prizes of $100,000, 2,000 prizes of $500 and 4,000 prizes of $100.

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2008, the contribution to schools was over $740 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $15 billion to education in Michigan.
