Harrison Township woman claims $20,010 prize

LANSING, September 15, 2008 – When Kathryn Morris watched her Club Keno numbers appear on the monitor, she told Lottery officials she almost fainted. The 22-year-old from Harrison Township won $20,010 in Club Keno.

The regular Lottery player placed a $10 wager on a 7-spot game and matched all seven numbers, winning $20,000.  On her second draw, she matched three numbers on a 7-spot game, winning $10, bringing her total winnings for the evening to $20,010.

Morris plans to use the prize money to buy a car.

The lucky winning ticket was purchased at Gator Jakes, 36863 Van Dyke, in Sterling Heights.

Club Keno offers 37 different ways to play and win. Players can wager $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $10 or $20 per drawing and tickets can be purchased for up to 20 drawings at a time. Players win Club Keno by matching some or all of the numbers they have selected to the numbers drawn. The more numbers matched, the more the player wins. The Kicker option allows players to multiply their winnings by up to 10 times!

Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
