LANSING, April 8, 2008 -A longtime Lottery player got his payday! He matched all six numbers in the March 22 Classic Lotto 47 drawing to win $1,578,765!
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, said he plays $5 a week on Lottery games and was in “disbelief” when he realized his ticket was a big winner.
He and his wife plan to retire next year and use their money for investments and to purchase new cars for their two sons.
The winning easy pick ticket was purchased at Mejier #194, 1167 E. Clinton Trail, in Charlotte.
Classic Lotto 47 drawings are conducted at 7:29 pm every Wednesday and Saturday night. Jackpots start at $1 million and grow by at least $100,000 each drawing.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
