LANSING, January 17, 2008 – What would you do with $17.8 million? Remodel your home? Take a dream vacation? Start a charity?
For a winner in Saturday’s Classic Lotto 47 game, the possibilities could be endless.
The $17.8 jackpot is the largest prize in the history of the Classic Lotto 47 game and the third largest lottery jackpot in the nation! In addition, if a winning ticket is sold in Saturday’s drawing, it would be in the top 25 largest jackpots ever awarded by the Michigan Lottery.
Sixteen lucky players matched five of six numbers in Wednesday’s drawing to win $2,500 each. Wednesday’s winning numbers were 12 15 19 33 39 44.
The next Classic Lotto 47 drawing is Saturday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at any Lottery retailer and sales for Saturday’s 7:29 p.m. drawing will close at 7:08 p.m. that night.
The Classic Lotto 47 jackpot starts at $1 million and grows by at least $100,000 each time the jackpot is not won.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
