LANSING, January 14, 2008 – Still on the rise, the Classic Lotto 47 jackpot is $17.4 million, making it the fourth largest lottery jackpot in the country!
The prize for Wednesday’s drawing is nearly $5 million more than the previous record Classic Lotto 47 jackpot, a $12.6 million prize won in July 2007.
Fourteen lucky players matched five of six numbers in Saturday’s drawing to win $2,500 each. Saturday’s winning numbers were 06 11 28 30 31 41.
The next Classic Lotto 47 drawing is Wednesday at 7:29 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at any Lottery retailer and sales for Wednesday’s 7:29 p.m. drawing will close at 7:08 p.m. that night.
The Classic Lotto 47 jackpot starts at $1 million and grows by at least $100,000 each time the jackpot is not won.
Over 95 cents of every dollar spent on Lottery tickets is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players and commissions to retailers. In fiscal year 2007, the contribution to schools was $748.9 million. Since its inception in 1972, the Lottery has contributed more than $14.3 billion to education in Michigan.
